Electronic Journals and Zines

  • What does it mean to be "well read" in an Age of Information?
  • How might new electronic resources such as ZINES provide the basis for broadly informed students?
  • How will students be encouraged to do what Sven Birkerts calls "deep reading?"

This is a partial listing of the hundreds of ZINES which can be found on the Internet. Many of these are lists of ZINES. Others are individual electronic publications. Because this list was meant to engage teachers in thinking about how to use such resources with older students, there has been no attempt to remove or screen controversial or offensive ZINES. Some of these may not be right for classrooms. Which do you think you might include on a list for high school students? Which might be inappropriate?
